Invitation to joint the Environmental Law Teachers' Forum

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Centre for Environmental Law Education Research and Advocacy (CEERA) at National Law School of India University, has been entrusted with the task of building the environmental Law Capacity of Law Teachers, State functionaries, NGOs. Local Self Government and Industries, under a Government of India Project that is financially supported by the World Bank. Under the project, a role larger than that of teaching students of law is assumed for an Environmental Law Teachers. He is expected to help build the environmental law capacity in Government authorities, Local Self Government functionaries, NGOs and Industrial Managers in addition to carrying on his teaching assignments in Law Schools. Given the poor state of environmental law education in India, it has become imperative that the Law Teachers be equipped first in this frontier area of legal knowledge so as to facilitate them to build the legal capacity of environmental managers in India.

In concertizing these efforts, CEERA, plans to build an 'Environmental Law Teachers' Forum. The forum will integrate, share and build knowledge relating to various environmental issue at the regional level. This will help have a network of Environmental law sensitized groups. The main objective of the forum will be to promote the understanding and sensitiveness of the need and concern for the protecting and promoting the environment at the National as well as the international level. To date we have 235 law teachers across the country who have u;undergone the UGC ASC refresher course in environmental law. If you are one among them or would like to join this forum, please fill the attached application forum and join this environmental law mission; towards a brighter future/ environment for all.

The following may be the few opportunities the forum could offer:

  • The member shall get the latest updates on the law and policy in the area of environment;
  • Member shall be invited to post articles/notes/comments/case reports in the exclusive section so provided in the CEERA website
  • Members shall be invited to take part/present views and papers at important workshops and seminar organised by CEERA
  • Members shall get opportunity to participate in faculty exchange programmes, to teach and learn more on environmental law.
